四、邀请、请求及应答

【考点说明】

表示邀请的有Would you like to go for a walk? / May I invite you to dinner? / What about having a swim?等。肯定回答有Thank you. / Yes, I’d love to. / That would be nice. 等；否定回答有No, thanks. / I’d love to, but I’m afraid I have no time. / It’s very nice of you, but my mother is ill. / I’m sorry I can’t. What about another time?等。

表示请求允许的有May I come in? / Could I use your phone? / I wonder if I could use your phone. / Do you mind if I use your phone?等。表示同意，可说Go ahead, please. / Please do. / Yes, please. / Sure. / Certainly. / That’s all right. / Of course, you can. 等；不同意，可说I’m sorry, it’s not allowed. / I’m afraid not. / You’d better not. / I’m sorry, but you can…等。(from www.nmet168.com)

【分析】答案选A。What for为什么？how come怎么发生的，如何解释？

2. —Do you mind if I open the window?

— ________ I feel a bit cold. (广东卷)

A. Of course not.                     B. I’d rather you didn’t.

C. Go ahead.                            D. Why not?

【分析】答案选B。用A或C，非常同意对方开窗，与后文I feel a bit cold. 不合；用D，显得没有礼貌或教养，因此，用B最得体。

3. —Do you mind if I keep pets in this building ? — ________. (上海卷)

A. I’d rather you didn’t, actually   B. Of course not, it’s not allowed

C. Great! I love pets                    D. No, you can’t

【分析】答案选A。此题应注意用委婉的说法，实际上说话人很介意。

4. —I’ll be away on a business trip. Could you mind looking after my cat?

—Not at all. ________. (全国卷)

A. I’ve no time                        B. I’d rather not

C. I’d like it                             D. I’d be happy to

【分析】答案选D。Not at all表示完全不介意，后接I’d like to. 或 I’d be happy to.

5. —I’d like to invite you to dinner this Saturday, Mr. Smith.

A. Oh, no. Let’s not                  B. I’m very sorry, but I have other plan

C. I’d rather stay at home          D. Oh. No. That’ll be too much trouble

【分析】答案选B。不能接受别人的邀请，首先要向对方道歉，然后说明理由。A和D是中式答语；C无礼。
