语法填空 (共10小题，每小题1.5分，满分15分)

阅读下面短文，按照句子结构的语法性和上下文连贯的要求，在空格处填入一个适当的词或使用括号中词语的正确形式填空，并将答案填写在答题卡标号为31～40的相应位置上。

A man spoke with the Lord about heaven and hell. The Lord said to the man, “Come, I will show you hell.” They entered a room ___31___ a group of people sat around a huge pot of meat. Everyone was skinny, desperate and starving. 【语法填空答案及解析】

31. where。空格后为一个定语从句，用以修饰名词room；由于先行词表地点，故用where来引导定语从句。

32. held。根据上下文可知，此句应用一般过去时。

33. than。根据其前的longer可知，其后应填空than。

34. that。此处的that与前面的so构成so…that…句式。

35. heaven。根据第一句A man spoke with the Lord about heaven and hell可知，前面看过了hell，所以现在要去看heaven。

36. to。similar to为英语惯用搭配，意为“与……相似”。

37. But。前后意思转折，故用but。

38. Why。询问原因，故用why。

39. same。根据上下文可知，此处填same，与前面出现的similar呼应。

40. other。与each构成搭配，feed each other 意为“彼此喂食”。

一个人在和上帝谈论天堂和地狱。上帝对这个人说：“来，我带你去地狱看看。”l都面黄肌瘦，绝望无助，饥肠辘辘。他们各持一个能够着汤锅的长勺，但是每个勺柄都远比他们的手臂还长，所以他们没法把炖肉送到自己嘴里去。这样的煎熬十分可怕。

过了一会儿，上帝说：“来，现在我带你去天堂看看。”他们走到另一间房，和第一间房间一样，里面都有一锅炖肉，一群人，手里都拿着长柄勺。但是每个人都健康快乐，心满意足。

那个人说：“我不懂，为什么两个房间里东西都是一样的，这里的人却这么开心，而那边的人那么悲惨。”上帝笑了。他说：“啊，这很简单，这里的人学会了彼此喂食。”
