17. be concerned about 有哪些用法？

【教材原句】

You will tell your friend that you are concerned about him / her but you have to go to class. (p.1)

【用法说明】　　

be concerned about 的用法如下：　　

(1) 为……担心。如：　　

We’re rather concerned about father’s health. 我们相当担心父亲的健康。　　

He seems to be making little progress, and the doctor is very concerned about him. 他好像没有什么好转，医生对他非常担心。　　

(2) 关注，关心，在乎。如：　　

The locals are concerned about the town’s growth. 当地居民非常关注该城镇的发展。　　

I’m concerned about whether he has signed the contract. 我很关心他是否在合同上签了字。　　

She is very concerned about her image as a good lawyer. 她很在乎她作为一个好律师的形象。　　

【相关归纳】　　

(1) be concerned for：与 be concerned about用法相同，两者常可互换。如：　　

We are all concerned about [for] her safety. 我们都很关心她的安全。　　

A good employer should be concerned for the welfare of his workers. 一个好雇主应该关心他的工人的福利。　　

(2) be concerned with：意思较多，可以表示“与……有关”“涉及”“关心”“关注”。如：　　

I am not concerned with that matter any longer. 我不再和这事有关。　　

This chapter is concerned with space flight. 这一章是有关太空飞行的。　　

This company is more concerned with quality than with quantity. 这家公司对质量比对产量更关心。　　

He is primarily concerned with his work, not his family. 他第一关心的是他的工作而不是他的家庭。　　

18. on holiday 中可以带冠词吗？

【用法说明】　　

on holiday 是英语中的固定搭配，意思是“度假”“在假日”，其中习惯上不用冠词。如：　　

I’ll be on holiday next month. 我下个月全月休假。　　

The typist is away on holiday this week. 打字员本周休假。　　

He is the man who I met on holiday. 他就是我在度假时遇到的那个男人。　　

It is not always easy to amuse oneself on holiday. 假日自娱自乐并非总是一件容易的事。　　

When you go on holiday, take a raincoat and a camera. 你外出度假时，要带上雨衣和照相机。　　

I’d love to go on holiday but I can’t afford the time. 我倒想去度假，可是抽不出时间来。　　

【特别补充】　　

on holiday 作为固定搭配，表示“度假”“在假日”，其中不用冠词，也不用复数。但有时可见到 on holidays 这样的说法，它主要用来表示诸如元旦、国庆等假日。如：　　

Travel is very heavy here on holidays. 假日这里的交通很拥挤。　　

On holidays the railways put on special trains. 假日铁路增开专列。
